Swing dance for Beginners - Spring Round 2 2026
Charleston is a lively dance with roots in African dance traditions that became popular in the U.S. during the 1920s and 1930s. Known for its energetic kicks, twists, and swinging arms, it began as a solo jazz dance and later evolved into an important part of swing partner dancing. Its playful energy and rhythmic footwork still make it popular today.
Charleston is a swing dance that makes it easier to join the dance floor when faster songs are playing, and it can become a fundamental part of your swing dance vocabulary.
In this class, we will start with the basic moves and stylings. You can join whether you have prior dance experience or none at all.
